LATWATER was originally formed in 1978.
It's goal was to water Lattakia and some of the surrounding villages
using limited water sources and very primitive watering ways.
The increasing need of fresh water and the urban expansion in the region
induced the realization of many projects, the exploitation of many other
water sources, and the modernization of watering methods and this in
further economies of scale and increased efficiency.
Today we supply 200 million litres of top quality drinking water every
day, to about one million people in the north west of Syria. We have
approximately 104 water supply works collecting and cleaning water
before it is used, and about 110 pumping stations of various sizes.
Our pipe network is huge - with 3665 km of water pipesThe water establishment is responsible for offering water resources, execution
and exploitation of water projects in order to supply water for cities, towns,
and villages of Lattakia.Recently the establishment
service about 90 % of the total population of Lattakia.
The establishment plans to offer the service for the whole
cities and villages of Lattakia in the beginning of 2006.
